It’s time for the Sixth Annual Connecticut Down Syndrome Congress (CDSC) Buddy Walk on October 16th at Hammonasset State Park. Last year Team Andrew's All-Stars raised over $2000. As you may know, we have a very personal reason for wanting to raise money for kids and adults with Down Syndrome (DS) here in Connecticut. Our son, Andrew, is now 3 ½ years old and is flourishing because of the constant support he receives from the Haddam-Killingworth public school system, where Andrew attends preschool. Twenty years ago a little boy like him most likely would’ve been at a special school and given little hope or chance to succeed. Now Andrew is entering the public school system and his future is limitless! This is due, in large part, to the efforts of the CDSC to advocate for people with DS and to educate the general public, educators, politicians and healthcare professionals about the potential of these special individuals. Without the CDSC on his side, Andrew would not have all of the opportunities for success that he has today. On that note, Kim has been busy supporting the CDSC this past year. She has made baby blankets for the newest little members of the CDSC and has recently joined the Board of Directors to support the programs and services that the CDSC provides to families.
As this year’s Buddy Walk approaches, I am asking you to please sponsor Andrew and become a part of our family’s Buddy Walk team, Andrews All-Stars, with your donation to the CDSC. You may also come down to Hammonasset State Park on Saturday, October 16th and join us at the Buddy Walk for a fun-filled family day that will leave you hopeful and inspired. Your donation allows you and your family free access to all the day’s events.
